When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.- Walt Disney

Welcome back and happy new year! I am very excited about what is going to happen in our classroom! First grade can be a very busy and challenging year. Students should become proficient readers by the end of the year. An example of what they  might read well by the end of the year are the Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel. Students will also move from writing sentences to writing paragraphs. Students also start to add and subtract with speed and accuracy.
I have been in the district for quite a few years now. I have taught Kindergarten and First grade. Before teaching here at IJA, I taught at Robert Sanders. When I am not teaching, I enjoy swimming, performing, going to Sharks games and Disneyland. I have a small zoo at home that includes 1 dog, 1 cat and 1 rabbit. I look forward to learning more about your child and what they enjoy.
Important dates to think about: Back to School Night is currently set for September 8- more details to follow.
This year conferences are set for November, please be sure to check calendars since dates may change.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me before or after school or by email: ksanders@mpesd.org.

Here is to a magical year!
